Whether you do your camping in a tent or a camper, you’ll probably find that the mattress you’re sleeping on (or lack thereof) is nothing like the comfy one you have at home.

So in this Camping Minute, our solution is simple - bring your own. I like the Aerobeds myself but just about any air mattress should provide a substantial improvement.

Cleaning up may not be anybody’s favorite thing to do while camping - who wants to clean when they’re on vacation!  In this video Dorrie shares her tips for getting your dirty dishes cleaned up quickly so you can spend more time doing fun stuff like hiking, swimming, and some good ol’ fashioned R&R.

In this week’s Camping Minute, you’ll learn some helpful tips for keeping mosquitoes out of your campsite by using tiki torches and citronella candles. Unless you’re camping in the winter, then you’ll probably need to be prepared for mosquitoes so just come prepared and they won’t bother you at all.

In Episode 4, we talk about the advantages of taking an electric heater with you on camping trips. If your campsite has electric hookups, then it just makes sense. For example, rather than using your propane to heat your camper, you can use your electric heater which will save you money since you already paid for the electric site.Also, an electric heater is really handy if you run out of propane on a cool, fall evening.

In this episode of The Camping Minute, Gary explains why you should always make sure you take a deck of playing cards with you on your camping trips. They’re especially handy when bad weather forces you inside your camper or tent, and they can provide entertainment even when the weather is great. They take up almost no space, and the number of games you can play with them is almost endless.

In our second episode, we cover how to split a log. In this video Fran demonstrates the proper technique to use when splitting a log. Remember to try to split along the grain of the wood instead of against it whenever possible or you’ll just make your task of wood splitting far more difficult.
