The RV World of 1937

I seem to be in a history mood this week.

Yesterday I posted a video slide show with pictures of vintage travel trailers. Today I have an oldie but goodie movie about homes on wheels from the 1930’s that I found on YouTube.

It is obvious the movie is old, if the fact that it is black and white doesn’t give it away, because it talks about how there are “plenty of leisure moments for the housewife; she just can’t find a great deal of work in a one room house.” (insert eye rolling here).

I decided I wouldn’t have made a very good housewife back then. I don’t think I would have cheerfully served my husband dinner every night with him sitting at the table waiting for food and me running back and forth from the stove. Dinner would probably have ended up on my husband’s head instead of in his stomach because I would have “accidentally” spilled it on him.

It’s a fun video clip to watch though because it allows a glimpse into life more than 70 years ago when many of us weren’t yet a “glimmer in our parents eyes.”
