Camp In Nebraska? Yes!

If you’re like me, camping is not the first thing you think of when you hear the word camping. Heck, for me it’s not even the 10th or 20th thing I think of. As a matter of fact, I never associated camping with Nebraska. I thought about it as more of a state to pass through on I-80 when on the way to somewhere else that is a popular camping destination or I associate it with corn or the Nebraska Cornhuskers college football team.

But, Nebraska has a lot to offer campers and Rv’ers. Plus, because it’s kind of an undiscovered camping paradise, camping there isn’t as crowded as some other areas, Yellowstone National Park for instance. Not only does the state have numerous private campgrounds and RV parks, but they have eight state parks, 7 of which have campsites. The one park that doesn’t have campsites, Platte River State Park, does have over 30 cabins for rent and is close to Eugene Mahoney State Park and Louisville State Recreation Area - both of which have campsites available for campers.

Niobrara State Park is located at the confluence of the Niobrara and Missouri Rivers near the northeastern border of Nebraska. There’s lots to do, from boating, to swimmining, to fishing, to horseback riding, plus it has 14 miles of hiking trails (good for walking off those campfire pudgie pie and s’mores) and an interpretive center.

When you plan your next camping trip, keep Nebraska in mind as a great destination.
