Scott Chaney @ 7:54 am:

Owners of smaller fuel-efficient vehicles that enjoy regular camping and outdoor adventures now have a reason to rejoice. Compact Camping Concepts has released a new style Lightweight Tent Topped Camping Trailer™ specifically tailored to their smaller size. At 350-400 lbs even the smallest vehicles can handle the towing. We’ve named this model an Explorer Box.

For DIY people that enjoy the pleasure and satisfaction of building something with their own two hands, there is a detailed construction manual available. Using plywood, waterproof glue, a few screws and a no-welding required bolt-together frame kit; it’s easy to create a durable, attractive, lightweight camping trailer. Don’t worry if a DIY project isn’t your thing, we’ll be happy to build a ready-to-roll one for you.

An Explorer Box is the perfect blend of compact size and space for all your camping essentials. Its design is inspired by the simplicity of vintage tent trailers and tailored to people seeking the benefits of driving a smaller vehicle. For camping adventures, they notably expand your available space while minimizing the impact on mileage, handling and braking while towing.

An Explorer Box is a rolling camp box - of sorts. It has a kitchen / galley area on the front that includes organized, shelved storage compartments and counter space. In the rear is a large general storage compartment for bulkier items and storage containers. On top is mounted a tent unit for sleeping which can be used without the need to unload the trailer.

However, it’s more than just a compact trailer; it’s about a simple and “unplugged” way of camping. An Explorer Box is for people who camp to leave the normal hustle and bustle of life at home. It is for people who enjoy the outdoors and take advantage of the soothing, relaxing and recharging effects nature has upon the mind and body. It’s about enjoying simple pleasures; catching sight of a shooting star, smores or scary ghost stories by the campfire. I have to admit, I just don’t understand arriving at a campsite in a beastly RV, setting up a satellite dish, and then disappearing inside to eat a microwave dinner.

A Tent Topped Camping Trailer® is perfect for extending your enjoyment of nature with fuel economy and affordable to get out more.

Craig @ 10:40 am:

One you Devils Lake blog entry you state that you took a picture of every camp site. Is that available to view somewhere like Flickr? I am trying to pick a nice private wooded site.
Thanks!

Craig,

I’m sorry I don’t have them up yet. I’ll get them up on the website tomorrow and will post another message here giving you the URL to use to access them.
Are you looking for an electric site or non-electric site?

Regards,

Dorrie

Dorrie @ 10:01 am:

Craig,

I apologize for the delay with the Devil’s Lake pictures. The original pictures were very large and took a long time to load so I resized them all, which was time consuming and resulted in the delay. Again, I apologize.
The temporary URL to see thet pictures is: http://campingearth.com/images/devilslake/. To view a picture, click on the name of it.
Most of the wooded sites are in the Ice Age campground. There are some wooded sites in the Northern Lights and Quartzite campgrounds but on the outer perimeter.
For a map of the campground go here: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/ORG/land/parks/specific/devilslake/pdfs/dlcampmaps05.pdf
Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dorrie

Thanks for promoting our Georgia State Park Guide! I’d be happy to help you post other park info as well. (Your raccoon post cracked me up. Ours are just as skillful — once grabbing a loaf of bread off a table that was seating about 8 people at the time. Fast little buggers.)

Megan Peterson @ 1:27 pm:

Hello,

My name is Megan Peterson, and I work at for an Internet map-content start-up company in Boulder, Colorado. I just perused your Camping Earth site & blog. In general, we’re trying to bring information about camping (among other interests like hiking, hunting, gardens, etc.) onto the Internet (Google maps, for example) as well as onto GPS devices and in-car navigation units. Our initial focus is on the US & UK. Our site will be structured and dynamic, driven by our users who will create and edit content (like a Wikipedia page).

I’m very interested in having you and others at Camping Earth participate in our closed site review occurring in several weeks. Essentially, we’d give you login information, have you create user profiles, peruse the site (i.e. the camping locations), and give us detailed feedback. Also, we will enable you to invite others who may be interested in our site.

Ideally, you enjoy and contribute to our site, and blog about it. Also, we are interested in advertising on your site. We’re hoping this is something you’d be interested in.

Thanks for your time. I look forward to your response.

Cordially,

Megan Peterson

Cari @ 11:17 am:

I just wanted to say I think this is a great site! I would like to know how we can be mentioned on the Truck Camper page. We are the exclusive manufactures of the Phoenix Pop-up campers and have been building the Phoenix models for over 20 years. Our family started and was the original owner of Four Wheel Campers in the early 70’s, selling the name and rights in the late eighties and starting Phoenix Pop-up Campers, which has expanded to Coyote RV. This expansion and change has allowed us to offer the customer a completely custom camper to fit any size truck from an Ford F-450 to a Honda Ridgeline. We would love to talk with you to see what we can do to become a partner in bringing the fun and adventures of camping to the consumer.

Thank you for your informational site.

Hi, First time browser on your Truck Camper Manufacturer Section. Sadly, notice you do not have us listed. Been around 11 years, built and sold thousands of truck campers, have 90 dealerships in North America, and are still going strong. Love the casual style of your site and would like to be listed if possible. Thank You.
